CROSS SOCIETY, SIRSA
Red Cross Society was
established in Sirsa district in the year 1975 and
since then it is working for the welfare of poor, needy, physically
handicapped, widows and weaker section of the society. The main aims and
objects of the Red Cross is relief to sick, suffering and wounded persons,
hospital welfare, relief to soldiers, Maternity & Child Welfare, to organise family planning programme,
Blood Transfusion Services, disaster and emergency relief of all kinds.
The society is working under the dynamic
leadership & guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa.
The major achievements and activities of
District Branch Sirsa in the year 2007-2008 (From
1-4-2007 to 31-3-2008) are as under: -
ORTHOPAEDICALLY HANDICAPPED REHABILITATION
CENTRE, SIRSA
Distt. Red
Cross Society Sirsa is running a
Orthopaedically Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre, Sirsa with the help of Social Justice & Empowerment
Department Haryana Chandigarh,
since 1987. The centre is running a workshop as well as physiotherapy unit.
During the year 2007-2008, 37
Limbs, 26 Brace, 98 Surgical shoes , 95 caliper, 6 Splints, 21 Jackets, 72
belt, 49 Crutches pair, 1 Collar and 43 other thus total 448 artificial limbs
worth Rs 3,00,381/- were provided to poor handicapped persons.
PHYSIOTHERAPY UNIT
Society run a
physiotherapy unit in Red Cross Bhawan Sirsa with modern equipments. In this unit Lumber
Traction, Cervical Traction, Wax Bath, Exercises are given to the patients
after prescriptions of the qualified doctor. In 2007-2008 above traction were
provided to 976 patients.
RED CROSS X-RAY UNIT AND MEDICINE
BANK
Society is running a Red Cross Medicine
Bank & X-ray
unit in Civil Hospital Sirsa. Free medicines are
provided to the poor, needy and helpless patients from Medicine Bank. Society provided medicines to 357 poor
patients amounting to Rs. 8,42,947/-
from Medicine Bank & Red Cross Society(Medicines worth Rs.7,57,381/- to
171 patients from Red Cross Society & medicines worth Rs.85,566/- to 186
patients from Red Cross Medicine Bank run in Civil Hospital Sirsa).
X-Ray facilities are provided to public
on cheaper rates than the market.
AMBULANCE AND FIRST AID SERVICES
In Civil Hospital Sirsa,
Dabwali] Kalanwali & Ellenabad. Society provide
ambulance services for transportation of poor and needy patients Free
services are also provided to poor patients with the permission of Deputy
Commissioner. Society charges Rs.6/-
per K.M. from above poverty line persons and Rs.3/-per K.M. from below
poverty line persons.
Society imparts First Aid and Home
Nursing Training in Schools, factories, educational & vocational
institutions etc. In this year First Aid/Home Nursing Training imparted to
1988 candidates.
MATERNITY & CHILD WELFARE
With the help of Health Deptt. a Family Planning Centre
and Maternity & Child Health Centre is working in Red Cross Bhawan, where qualified staff motivates the people for
family planning and also provide facilities for small family norms. Simultaneously,
society provides vaccine to the children for D.P.T. Polio, TT, BCG Measles
and Vitamin- A to control the blindness. During this year 50 sterilizations
and 97 IUD Cases were done, 22250 Nirodh and 1599
Oral Pills were distributed. Besides this 709 Tetanus Toxiod,
767 D.P.T., 532 DP booster, 782 B.C.G., 566 measles and 270 D.T. were given.
BLOOD DONATION SERVICES
In the field of Blood Donation society
mostly get Ist or 2nd position in Haryana. In this
year also society organised 97 Camps and collected
23552 units, out of which 13983 units directly issued to other medical
institutions of different states.
POLUTION CONTROL
To keep environment free from pollution,
a pollution control Centre is running in S.D.M. Office Mini Secretariat, Sirsa. In this year 2700 vehicles has been checked to
control the pollution.
AID &
APPLIANCES
Society provides aid & appliances to
poor & needy handicapped persons time to time so that they can
rehabilitate themselves. For this
purpose society organised handicapped check-up
camps in which medical and other formalities completed for providing them
aids & appliances on the spot. In
this year society organised a Mega Handicapped
Welfare camp in collaboration with "Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Kalyan Sahayta Samiti,Delhi" from 1-3-2008 to 4-3-2008 at Ch.Dalbir
Singh Indoor Stadium Sirsa. In this camp 108
Tricycle, 44 Wheel Chair, 144 hearing aid distribted
by the Society. "Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Kalyan Sahayta Samiti,Delhi" distributed
380 Artificial Limbs, 24 Tricycles & 10 Wheel Chair to the
handicapped persons.
In all during this year 161 Tricycles, 56
Wheel Chairs, 180 Hearing Aid, were distributed to the poor handicapped persons worth Rs.10,00,820/-.
HELP FROM NATURAL CALAMITY FUND OF SOCIETY
Society has opened a separate account in
the name of Natural Calamity Fund.
From this account society provides help to the peoples affected by
Natural Calamities and Disasters etc.
During this year society has been given an amount of Rs.6,52,008/- to eighteen persons affected by Natural
Calamities from this fund.
RELIEF MATERIAL & GRANTS
Society provides ration, cloths etc. to
poor, needy & handicapped persons. Society also helps poor peoples on the
marriage of their daughters. This year society distributed, 63 sewing
machines, 5 Embroidery Machines, 184 Ladies Suit, 1 Paint-Shirt, 393 Blanket,
1 Qtl. 65 Kg.Wheat, 2 Qtl. Rice, 24 Qtl. 45 Kg.Atta, 2 Qtl. 84 Kg.Daal, 1 Kg.Ghee, 94 Iron
Boxes, 103 Sweaters, 1 Rehri, 2 Almirah, 1 Water
Tank, 10 Glass, 10 Thali, 7 Hot Case, 4 Floor Mat,
1 Ceiling Fan, 5 Water Cooler, 5
Mattress, 5 Mtr.Cloth to poor, handicapped and needy persons.
Society provided 498 bicycles to village
girl students who passed matric examinations with good marks.
Apart from this cash assistance of Rs.2,53,730/- is given to the poor and needy persons and
Rs.86,154/- also given to poor students in shape of books & fee etc. in
this year from Distt.Red Cross Society Sirsa.
Besides this society provided grants to
many other institutions for the welfare of mentally retarted,
hearing & speech handicapped students & general public at large.

Singh Hockey player of the team which won Asia
cup.
Ø
Society
provides bus fair of BPL mentally retarted children
of Prayas School Sirsa. In this year Rs.44,048/-
were given for this purpose.

Rs.40000/-
has been given to Disha School Sirsa
for purchase of musical instruments.
Ø
A
special bus of Civil Hospital Sirsa has been
started for carrying AIDS patients to Rohtak to
Third Tuesday of every month. Society
provided POL worth Rs.19535/- for this Bus in the year 2007-2008.
Ø
Society
provided Five Water Coolers, One for Tehsil Dabwali, One for Tehsil Rania, One for Sub Tehsil Nathusari Chopta, One for
Police Line Sirsa & other for D.C.Office Sirsa in this year
worth Rs.1,61,000/-.
Ø
Rs.4,77,125/- has been given to Deaf & Dumb School Sirsa. From which
3,91,500/- for construction of Hostel and
Rs.85,625/- for providing ration for students.
Ø
Aid
worth Rs. 85000/- to victim of Cracker Stalls on
the eve of Diwali.
Ø
Grant
of Rs.10000/- given to Sahara Club Kalanwali for
spreading awareness regarding female foeticide.
Ø
Rs.1,00,000/- has been given to Govt. National College Sirsa for starting women wing in Old Tehsil
Complex Sirsa.
Ø
Rs.2,00,000/- has been given to St.John
Ambulance Association,Sirsa to meet out the
expenditure of Ambulances.
Ø
Rs.1,00,000/- has been given to Orthopaedically
Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre, Sirsa for
providing artificial limbs to handicapped persons.
In
all society provided help worth Rs.76,33,617/- to
various institutions, handicapped & poor persons.
WORKING WOMEN HOSTEL
A
hostel consisting of 24 rooms is being run by the society near old courts
complex, Sirsa since 1986. Boarding facilities are
provided to the working women in this hostel against nominal charges.
HARIS
Under the guidance of Revenue Department Haryana society is running Haris
Centres in all the Tehsils
and Sub Tehsils in Sirsa
District. In these centres
Computerised Registration facilties
provided by the society. 10% Income of these centres
sent to Revenue Department Haryana.
E-GOVERNANCE CENTRES
Society
is running e-governance centres in SDM Office Sirsa,Dabwali,Ellenabad, Tehsil Office Sirsa, Dabwali, Ellenabad,Rania & Kalanwali. In
these centres Computerised
Driving Licence, R.C., Caste Certificate, Residence
Certficate and Loan scanning facilities are
provided to the public.
HALRIS CENTRES
Society has started HALRIS Centres in various Tehsils
& Sub Tehsils for Land Records, so that public
may not face any difficulty for their Land Record.
BUS SERVICE
Society has started Bus Services for
girls student of Govt.
National College(Girls
Wing) Sirsa.
In this Bus female Driver has been appointed for transportation of the
students from villages. During the
year society spent Rs.1,30,625/- for transportation
of college students.

District Child
Welfare Council, Sirsa
District Child Welfare Council, Sirsa
is playing a vital role in allround development and
welfare of Children in District Sirsa. The various
activities being carried out by the council are as follows :
- Creche : District Child Welfare Council is running 64 Creches in the District. Every Centre has a
provision of enrolling 25 Children in the age group of 0 to 5 years.
Every Child is given nourishment rating to Re 1.05 per day. Each centre
has a provision of kid toys, pre-school education and medical health
checkup programme being carried out from time
to time.
- Balwaris : The council is running two Balwaris,
having a provision of enrolling 40 children in the age group of 3 to 6
Years. Each Child is given nourishment rating to Re 1.05. These centres are running at Khairpur
and J.J. Colony, Sirsa.
- Household/Hobby
Classes : Seven such classes are running at various
villages like Baragudha, Bharokhan,
Bhurtwala, Bhangu, Neza Dela Khurd, HandiKhera and Kalanwali. Various items required are supplied free.
The libraries are also established in such centres.
- Bal Bhawan, Sirsa : The District HQ of the Council is situated
at
Barnala Road, It offers
a variety of activities like Dance Classes, Photography, Painting,
Radio/TV Repairing, Yoga for overall development of the children. Some
other activities of Bal Bhawan are described
below :
- Creche : Two Creches are
running in the premises of Bal Bhawan Sirsa. The Children in the age group 0 to 5 Years
of working Women are enrolled in these Creches, ,each having a provision of enrolling 25 Children.
A lot of Credles are there for recreation of
the Children.
- BRUCO
Baby Train : For recreation of Children, a facility of
Baby Train is provided in the premises of Bal Bhawan
Sirsa, which is also an income generating
means for Bal Bhawan Sirsa.
- Ajit Aeroplane : An Aeroplane has
been exhibited by Govt. Of India, Deptt.
Of Defence, which is a
source of attraction for general public as well as kids.
- Museum : Museum at
First Floor of Bal Bhawan Sirsa
was inaugurated on 26.04.2001 by Smt Umesh Nanda, IAS,
Commissioner, Hisar Division, Hisar. It aims at alround
development of the Children and boost their
historic knowledge. Till date, 2504 Visitors have visited this museum.
- Computer
Training Centre :
Computer Training Centres are running
at Bal Bhawan Sirsa
and Dabwali. 107 Students at Bal Bhawan Computer Centre Sirsa
and 33 Students at Dabwali were enrolled in
the year 2001-2002 and were issued certificates. Computer Centre each
at Rania and Ellenabad
were also established by the Council on 26/3/2002.
- Hobby
Class : Various Hobby Classes like Dance,
Painting, Mehandi etc are running in Bal Bhawan premises.
- Mini Bal Bhawan, Mandi Dabwali : The Council has established a Mini Bal Bhawan in the premises of Old Court at Mandi
Dabwali, which boasts of having a Computer
Training Centre and Creche.
- Mini Bal Bhawan, Mandi Kalanwali : The construction of building for Mini Bal Bhawan Kalanwali has been
completed. It is having a provision of a Computer Training Centre. A
Stitching Centre was also established with the help of DRDA in which 40
Women were imparted training.
- Celebration of Children's Day : The Children's Day is celebrated with a
great pomp and show every year. Various Competitions are held and stalls
are arranged on the day. Sweets and Fruits are distributed to children
on this day.
- Drug Awareness and Counseling Centre : The Centre provides free drug awareness and
counseling to registered drug victims.
- Training to Anganwari
Workers : Training to Anganwari
Workers is provided in the Anganwari Training
Centre running in Working Women's Hostel.
- PARYAS - Special School
for Mentally Retarded Children : A
special School catering to the needs of Mentally Retarded Children has
been set-up with the staff as Principal, 5 Teachers and Helpers. The new
building of the school was inaugurated on 30th November 2001 by Sh L. M. Goyal, Chief
Secretary Haryana.
- Science Re-creation Centre : A Science Re-Creation Centre is being run by
National Science Centre, New
Delhi in the prermises
of Bal Bhawan Sirsa.
The Children gain a lot about Scientific
aspects. The Centre has a Planetarium, Mini Zoo, Re-Creation Centre and other
Scientific Appliances. During the Year 1999-2000, 4675 persons, 8659
Students and 99 Schools paid a visit to this centre.
- Street Children Project : The Council is running a project named as Street Children Project under which
Free Education is provided to 100 Students. Nutrition, Stationery and
Uniform is also distributed time to time.

Introduction
About the Society: -
The RK J Welfare Centre
for hearing & Speech Handicapped is one of the 6th welfare Haryana welfare centre for hearing & speech
handicapped being run by Haryana Welfare Society
for Hearing & Speech Handicapped, Sector 9-D, Chandigarh.
The SIRSA Centre was
established during the year 1985-86 with the grant from Ministry of Welfare,
Govt. of India, New
Delhi. It was inaugurated by HE Sh
S H M Burney, Governor of Haryana on 5th February, 1986.
Introduction
about the Centre:
The foundation of the present centre which is spread
over an area of 4 Acres of Land was laid by HE Sh. Dhanik Lal Mandal
then Governer of Haryana,
on 24th January
1993. This centre has been named as "RAM SARAN DASS KALAWATI
DEVI JAMNAKANWALA" as the handsome amount (About 30 Lakhs)
has been donated by Shri Manmohan
Goyal S/o Late Shri ram
Saran Dass, MD, Jagdamba
Paper Mills Sirsa (Haryana).
The centre is situated in the middle of the town. A specious building has
been constructed.
Sufficient
provision has been made for office staff, classroom, library, labs & play
ground etc. The centre has installed submersible pump for additional water
supply. An Electrical Generator set has also been installed for emergency
needs.
Activities :
- Education : Education is being imparted to the students by means of modern
electronic equipments to make then understand oral language properly
with total communication method. They are being taught the syllabus of
normal children up to 5th standard.
Teaching
Methods : The Education is imparted to these children through
Total Communication Methods and specially trained teachers have been
appointed.
- Residential Facilities : At present, 60 students are taking
advantage of the hostel facilities. The students are grouped into two
categories according to their sex. All the boys and girls are looked
after by house mothers appointed for this purpose.
3. Rehabilitation :-
- ENT Camps : The Centre organised
ENT camps at Darbi on 22nd Decemeber 2001 with the help of ENT surgeon, DR J K Bishnoi. The 2nd Camp organized at Kaluana on 16th and 17th March 2002. In
First Camp 365 patients & in second camp 643 patients examined by
ENT Specialist. Free medicines were distributed among the patients.
- Vocational Trades : Keeping in view the goal of gainful
rehabilitation for the hearing impaired, the centre has been maintaining
different vocational trades.
- Cutting
& tailoring: We have
completed six-month Cutting and Tailoring Trade with the help of Women Polytechnic College,
Sirsa. We are also planning to start the same
course in near
future with the help and assistance of Govt
Polytechnic, Sirsa under PWD Scheme.
- Beautician: We have completed six-month Beautician
Trade under noble guidance of D.C. cum Chairman of the centre.
- Knitting: Under the supervision of lady teacher and
housemothers girl students have been trained in knitting.
- Cooking: Under the noble guidance of D.C. cum
Chairman of the centre, the Cooking Trade has been started with the
collaboration of Sharmik Vidhyapeeth,
Sirsa.
- Art & Craft, Hand made
Cards and Screen Printing : Centre is also working for development of
re-creational and creativity skill among the students by providing them
training in the Art & Craft, Hand made Cards, Glass Painting and
Screen Printing etc.
4. Games & Sports :
Besides imparting education, the centre provides all possible opportunities
for all round development of the Children. The Children are provided the
opportunity of indoor and outdoor games and they participate in various
sports competitions. 15 Students of this centre participated in 1st
Annual Athletic Meet held at WCHSH Centre Raipur Rani (Haryana) in October 2001.
5. Computer Training :
Under the guidance of Hon’ble DC Cum Chairman, the
centre has been running Computer Orientation Programme
for students with the cooperation of Govt. Polytechnic Sirsa.
The Centre is having a well equipped Lab with 4 latest Computers. These sets
are provided by DRDA.
